I cannot say polarizing is bad. Polarizing on basis of economic/political ideology might be one of the best things that happened to USA. I say this reflecting UPA-2 inability to take initiatives on number of projects or taking judicial action of number of corrupt politicians mainly because of hung politics. I cannot imagine political action or criminal action if a criminal optician is in ruling hung.
There should be division but on how thing should be done. This culture will bring out the best of both ends serving the society in the best way. I dont feel good that the main opposition to Congress and allies is BJP which bases on hindutva. I think BJP has the critical mass needed for it to launch as party of policies and not a party of a religion. I am not predicting but common sense says BJP should move away from hindutva.
These are some solutions that i can think of.
1) No registering political parties on basis of religion or religious faith.
2) No Registering political parties on basis of Caste or creed.
3) Election commission should have strict ethical frame work for campaigning, not to propagate on religion or caste.
4) This will be debatable but should be given a chance. It should not be 51% bunch of parties that rules BUT should be the majority even it gets 30% .
For this my argument is, it may not represent all sections but will force polarization on basis of policy and mandates rather than any other reason.
What this does is it will spell slow and sure death of small fringe parties that are pulling back any big initiatives.
There should be differences while voting on a policy not while forming parties. Let them, politicians, fight for changes in policy.
